With the design changes we did we increased tracker list visited by 31%, also we increased both internal and external user satisfaction by 25%.
USER INTERVIEWS
To gain a better understanding of user inventory managment I held user interviews.
Some of the pain points I heard during inteviews:
- Users don't have a clear picture when they are running out of trackers;
- Many Users responsible for ordering trackers need to keep track of multiple warehouse locations and their current stock of trackers. These users are typically remote and need an easy way to understand which locations need what;
- Inventory management is currently a manual process;
- David would love to see a grouping number/information of unused devices/etc. Have ability to manage the number of devices per mode of transportation device type;
- It's hard to get insight into the number of trackers per subaccount/location. Current Trackers page filtering doesn't let you do much to search for specific parameters;
- They use single use trackers because the process of returning is too hard, but they like the idea of using multi-use trackers with a subscription plan.

With the interviews conducted and notes analyzed, we now proceed with analyzing and breaking down the identifiers, and then find out any patterns, in order to aggregate and build a generalized reprezentation of our audience. Those happen to be our personas.

Based on our main problems, I created storyboard which would help my design decisions. I shared it with stakeholders and adjusted some changes based on the feedback received.

After building up the storyboard, I started to ideate the short and long term strategy on how we want to build the inventory management.

Based on the ideation I suggested three different versions, for the current and future state.
So after I jumped to high fidelity designs, I separated my work into 3 different parts. So the MVP was the one that includes the main problems we are trying to solve, this was the lightest versions based on effort and cost, that we thought would significantly address the problems.
- Tabs that lets user know the trackers statuses if they are used or not.
- Location Name column that gives user the ability to know where the tracker is.
- Order Trackers button which is always visible and gives user the ability to order trackers throughout the platform.
After I finalized designs we prepare to test our screen with user by builidng up a prototype. I built some promps and started moderated usability testing. Based on both internal and external users I tested most of the feedback was based on the content and sort logic, so I resolved the feedback and we were ready to go.
The second version includes MVP + broader view of trackers across different accounts & locations. It would help user makes quicker decisions and keep track of the inventory without having to go back and forth with the ordering managment team

The third version includes also a burn down rate which explains the customer how he used his trackers and when the inventory is going to be low on stock.
